/ Kiefer Kroeker for Mayor

A practical plan for Chetwynd

My priorities are built around what I believe local government should do. Listen to residents, plan responsibly, protect essential services, support local opportunity, and make decisions with Chetwynd's long-term future in mind.

My Priorities

Five priorities for Chetwynd

A focused approach to the issues that matter most to our community, grounded in responsible planning, open communication and real action.

Healthcare

Responsible Finances & Infrastructure

Housing

Advocate for reliable local healthcare and support practical recruitment and retention efforts.

Plan ahead, maintain what we own, pursue grants, and make careful decisions with taxpayer dollars.

Support responsible development and expand housing options for people at every stage of life.

Jobs & Economic Development

Support local business and industry while actively pursuing investment, opportunity, and stable local jobs.

Transparency & Communication

Keep residents informed, explain decisions clearly, listen to concerns, and make local government more accountable and accessible.

Accountability

Clear answers. Responsible Leadership.

Residents deserve to know what I stand for, how I would approach difficult decisions and what they can expect from me as Mayor.

How will you approach spending and infrastructure?

How will you support housing and local jobs?

I will work with Council and District staff to prioritize long-term planning, preventative maintenance, and responsible budgeting. Decisions should consider the condition of municipal assets, the level of service residents expect, and the full cost of maintaining and replacing infrastructure over its life.

I will work with Council, District staff, developers, businesses, industry, and regional partners to make it easier to build the housing Chetwynd needs and to strengthen the local economy. My focus will be on removing unnecessary barriers, supporting existing employers, attracting new investment, and helping create stable jobs for local residents.

What will you do about healthcare?

How will residents be kept informed?

Healthcare is primarily a provincial responsibility, but the District can still play an important advocacy and partnership role. I will work with Council, District staff, Northern Health, the Province and community partners to keep Chetwynd's healthcare needs visible, support recruitment and retention efforts, and advocate for reliable local healthcare services.

Residents deserve clear and accessible information about what their local government is doing. I will provide regular updates, explain important decisions in plain language, make Council's work easier to follow, and ensure residents know how to raise questions, concerns and ideas.

Beyond the five priorities

These five priorities will guide my work, but they are not the only issues that matter. Current concerns such as Chetwynd's feral-cat problem and new issues that emerge or are raised by residents deserve a serious response. I will review facts, options, costs and the municipal role, and then work with Council and District staff towards responsible action.
